Course Overview

We currently offer courses at the following levels:

Beginner

The project is a panel up to one square foot in size, 15 to 20 pieces. You select the pattern out of 2 books, and pick out the glass.
Cost: $145. Class fee includes your choice of design and glass selection, complete instructions for doing stained glass projects, all supplies, use of tools, framing materials, and taxes.

Intermediate

These courses include larger projects.
Typical ideas: lamps, planters or decorative boxes. Some work will likely be required at home.
Cost: $115. Class fee includes instruction, use of tools, taxes, and basic supplies (foil, solder, chemicals). It does not include glass or framing material.

Our Instructors

Our courses are highly successful and we continually receive positive feedback from our clients. Our Wednesday and Thursday instructor is Chris Van Zanten, an "escapee" from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. In over 10 years of teaching classes at our store, he has transformed hundreds of rank amateurs into confident and competent stained glass artisans.

Our Tag-Team Tuesday instructors are Dave Bedard and Mary J. By day, Dave is a mild mannered civil servant, but he transforms into Dave the Glassman when the sun goes down. He has many years experience doing stained glass and teaching our classes. Mary has moved from being a former student to a Teaching Assistant alongside Dave.

Our Monday instructor is Kevin Tappin. Even though the NHL has returned to action, he will remain in the back room, calmly teaching Zen and the art of stained glass to all the 'little grasshoppers' who want to learn how. He has been working with stained glass since 1995.

Note: For all lessons, the students are required to be 18 yrs old and over please.

ADVISORY: We recommend that any pregnant or potentially pregnant women refrain from taking stained glass lessons due to the lead and chemicals involved.

We want to hear what you thought of our classes, so we can always be improving them. Any comments, positive or negative, are welcome. You can use our feedback form, call, write, or drop in and discuss with us how you felt the classes went.
