Foiling Tips

Start foiling in a corner, not in the middle of a straight length. If the foil doesn't overlap perfectly at the end, it won't stand out as much in the corner . You can trim off the exposed overlap with a sharp X-Acto blade or utility knife(Olfa). Be careful not to scratch the glass, which can happen if your blade is dull.

Don't eat anything whle foiling, as the oil or moisture from the food that is on your hands will prevent the foil from sticking to the glass.

When you are ready to foil your glass, check for any pen lines along the edges of the glass pieces. If there are any heavy lines what will be visible even when the foil is on, go over the glass pieces with a bit of steel wool to remove the gold or black pen lines. Wash and dry the glass off, then start foiling. It is a lot easier to do that now, then trying to do it later on after soldering.
