When the time comes that you need one of these, you have gotten serious about glass. This is not a tool for everybody, as it's high price should show. It is slow, it is not a laser, but it will cut glass in shapes that you would not believe possible.
The blade is a one piece stained steel loop with diamond grit that is the same as on a grinder bit, on one edge. It has an adjustable speed control. You just need to keep a bit of water in the basin, and oil the felt washers every month or so. The saw is all-metal construction, except for the water basin.
The plastic guides need replacing occasionally. Replacement blades are expensive, so that is why the machine comes with 2. DiamondTech does claim that their blades are "Unbreakable", so if yours does break, send it back to them and you might get a replacement blade.
The original DL1000 model is what we have had in the store for over eleven years, with absolutely no problems. We stand behind this saw and so does DiamondTech. If you ever have any issues with this saw, bring it in and we will solve your problem, no charge.
Don't just take our word on it. These are a couple of emails we got from satisfied customers who bought DL1000S bandsaws:
Just wanted to say "HAPPY NEW YEAR" and rave about my new band saw (bought your floor model last week). You put my mind at ease about there being only one best choice of saw and you were right about this one! It is a wonderful tool and has already changed how I look at projects. It helps if you have previous band saw experience, wood, metal, etc., (which I do) but this unit is well made and runs quite smoothly.
Thanks again.
Cheers,
L. J.
Just a short note to let you know that I was in touch with Diamond Laser. They sent me a new motor for my Band saw, we got it within a week. My Band saw is now working like it never worked before. The service and speed from Diamond Tech was great.
Thanks
