The Soldering Iron Stand
This is a cast metal base with a steel coil holder with a bakelite rim for holding the hot soldering iron. We highly recommend getting one if you have a soldering iron. We like the Mika brand stand the best. It has the largest, most stable vase, and a large basin for the sponge, which is included, for wiping your iron on during use, to clean it off on. A lot of people may have a iron stand at home from some other application besides stained glass, but if you do not have one, it is important for safety's sake. One of our regular customers came in one day and had to re-purchase everything, as his roommate had burnt their place down accidently with the soldering iron somehow!
