WARM GLASS DAY!

To help celebrate the warmer weather, after such a weird, cold winter, we are happy to announce Warm Glass Day! April 24th, all day long. Bring in your best fused or slumped work and show off, or your worst piece and ask why did this happen? Try your hand at melting glass in the glory hole, combing, beadmaking, and more. The idea for this came from various conversations with customers and students. Some had been using the online chat rooms to discuss working with warm glass, but nothing is like a face to face, hands-on discussion. Other times students during our classes would start discussing various techniques. There isn’t any structured setting or group in the city for people who do warm glass work to get together and share ideas, so we thought we would open our studio space to share the warmth of the warm glass experience. There will also be various goodies about to munch and sip during the day. We will also have some special one day only Sale Prices on warm glass related merchandise. If this works like we hope it will, we would like to make it a regular event.

Warm Glass Day Demos:

9:30am to 11:00am- Using a Glory Hole to make murrini rods

12:00pm to 2:00pm -

Bead making

3:00pm to 4:00pm - Combing & Raking in the kiln

Invasion of the Turtles!

Remain calm!, all is well! Just don't stick your hand in there and we'll all get along fine. If you haven't seen what this is referring to, we know have an aquarium in the back workshop area, and there are two Red-Eared Slider Turtles

A common complaint of the stained glass hobbyist is that there just isn't enough time in the day to be able to do stained glass in. As stained glass is an excellent hobby for relaxing the mind and soul, we here at Stained Glass Stuff have helped to develop a scientific break-through to help with this problem. In conjunction with the NCR, NASA, the NSA, the B.L.I. (Bud Light Institute), and Groupaction, (how do you think we managed to be able to afford to pay for all of this high tech research), we are pleased to announce the creation of the Stained Glass Slo-Mo Time Machine (S.G.S.M.T.M.).

It works by creating a "bubble" in the space-time continuum. For the low, low price of $100,000,000, you too can have as much time to work on your stained glass as you want. The S.G.S.M.T.M. (patent pending) slows time down in the room you are in to about one tenth the speed of normal time. This will allow you to do ten times the amount of stained glass in the same time frame that you could before. Just think of how many projects you can finish off in one evening or weekend now! All you have to do is hook your shiny new S.G.S.M.T.M. up to you nuclear fusion reactor and you're in business.[nuclear fusion reactor not included] So with one of these in your workshop, we expect to see you in here a lot more, buying huge quantities of supplies, and we hope you have a happy April First, April Fool's Day!

(The last time we wrote up an April Fool's Day editorial, about moving the store to the Corel Center, it bit us in the seat of our pants because we did end up having to move the store 2 months later. So this is a plea to the glass gods not to fire off lighting bolts at us for having a bit of fun)
