We are planning to host a small golf tournament (9 holes) at a local course (Amberwood?), some time in early June, with the proceeds going to Children at Risk, a support group for children with Autism. There will be prizes for various contests on the course. We do not have a date or course set, as many courses are still not open at the time of writing. If you are looking for a good excuse for a game, please contact us and we will inform you when we are organized.
As last year’s Open House at Chris’s glass blowing studio was so successful, it was an easy decision to do it again this year. On April 22nd, Earth Day, from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, you will have the opportunity to make a blown glass ball or rondel. Chris will demonstrate how to make these shapes out of glass first, then those who want to try it can do so. The fee is $50 plus tax. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to create a piece. The balls or rondels can be picked up at Stained Glass Stuff later the following week, as they will be a little too hot to take home right after creating them.

As our 2007 Patty Gray Advanced Fusing Workshop was so successful, and she has agreed to return in 2008, we have started a list of people interested her next class here at Stained Glass Stuff. We are tentatively planning on having two 3 day workshops. If you would like the opportunity to learn from the top instructors in North America, leave your name & number with us and we will contact you when we have our dates set up. Maverick and Iceman may drop in, as they are used to competing against the best of the best, the top 1 percent, the Elite! (Sorry, too many Top Gun references there. No volleyball scenes however)
If you can’t wait that long, then join us as we travel down I-81 again for the last ever Hot Glass Horizons in Corning New York from May 2nd to 6th. No waiting for next year this time! The logistics of the show have become too expensive for the west coast based organizers, so this is your last chance to attend. Check out their website, http://www.hotglasshorizons.com/, or pick up one of the course calenders we have here. There are a few new instructors this year, and some returning instructors are teaching different classes. Contact Kevin for details regarding transportation and lodging.
