Drop by to learn how to use this wonderful system to its potential. We will be giving a Morton Maxi Board and Portable Glass Shop away to a lucky attendee. There is no charge for attending this demo. There will be coffee & donuts to help perk you up.
This interesting concept was batted around while we were down in Corning at Hot Glass Horizons. It seemed that the best way to learn more was to be able to have a ‘critical mass’ of warm glass enthusiasts all in the same place at the same time, so they can interact and learn from each other. So, what we came up with is a monthly drop-in clinic all about warm glass. It will be on the second Friday of each month from September to May, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Each month will have a specific topic or demonstration. The first 30 minutes or so will be dedicated to the evenings’ topic, followed by a round table discussion on warm glass. Any unanswered questions will be followed up on, and an answer will be presented at the start of the next month’s meeting. Any results of the previous month’s topic will also be welcomed for display & discussion. In lieu of a fee, we will be asking for non-perishable food donations for the Ottawa Food Bank. There is a new email listing on our website that you can sign up for to get a monthly reminder the week before the meeting.
The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson."Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?'' she asked the instructor."P-u-t-t is correct,'' he replied."Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."
You can use normal Spectrum Glass in the kiln, it just needs to have a cap layer of System 96 to give it a nice look. Regular Spectrum will start to devitrify if uncapped. Their Pearl Opal glass turn out beautifully with a clear cap.
Keep your opened EDCO copper foil in a ziploc bag once you’ve opened it. This will help keep the foil fresh and prevent the adhesive from drying out. You can also keep foil in the refrigerator if you are not going to be using it for an extended period of time.
