Useful Tip Section

Some people lately have been asking why their copper patina has gone on very irregularly. Each time, under cross- examination by Jack McCoy, it turns out that they all have been using dish detergent to clean flux off their piece. This is just about the worse thing you could do. DON'T DO IT AGAIN! Use Neutra 5000, warm water, and a soft sponge to wash and rinse off the flux. Rub your piece down with fine grade steel wool(000 or 0000), and then spray it with Kwik-Clean, and rub off with a clean dry towel. Then apply your patina. Rinse your piece off with cool water, pat dry, and polish. This is what we do on all of our pieces here, and it works very well for getting an nice even finish with patina and none of that whitish crud that sometimes will appear in your solder lines.

If you are having any difficulties with your finishes, come in and we can help you out.

Classes

It is that time of the year again when those big yellow buses will be out clogging the roads during rush hour. And teachers will be ready to fill young minds with all kinds of stuff, some of it might even be useful.

So with this thought in mind we have been working hard in the last few weeks preparing the back room for a new round of stained glass classes. So if someone you know wants to take an introductory class or you want to brush up on your skills with an intermediate class, the time is rapidly approaching.

Classes for the fall will start on the following nights:

Round One - All full, sorry!
Monday, Sept. 11 to Oct. 16 - Intermediate
Tuesday, Sept 12 to Oct 10 - Introduction
