Enhance your basic glass combing skills beyond the straight line strip. Participants will create complex strip designs as well as examine ways to create pictorial or natural images. Each student will create two 6"x6" combed tiles using two different techniques. Previous glass combing experience recommended.

Friday, August 7, 2020

Be your own designer and create unique patterns and designs adapted from the acrylic paint pouring craze. Students will create a set of 3" x 6" glass pieces using watercolour, marbleizing, pouring, dripping and pulling techniques.

Saturday, August 8, 2020

Using enamels, students will create two sample paint pours, select collage elements, and learn design principles and placement to build a balanced storyboard.

Sunday, August 9, 2020

Learn to create intricate murrine, twisted cane and vitrigraph stringer using the Cress Kiln and a specially designed container. A presentation of the tools, techniques and designs used to create interesting cane will be followed by a demonstration as well as individualized training. Each student will have time to gain confidence with the process while ensuring safety in the classroom. Students will then team up to design, fill and pull their own vessels into murrine and twisted cane. All of the cane pulled in the class will be divided among the students for use in future projects.

Spring 2020

Join us for an incredible warm glass educational experience with Patty Gray. Over three packed days she will demonstrate many techniques and then have you create and do them yourself.  Combing, Vitrograph pulls, pattern bars, using metals and other non-glass inclusions, fusing thick pieces, coldworking, and more!

There will be an additional Material Fee for this workshop, but at this time we are not sure how much it will be.

The workshop fee does include HST, hot lunch and refreshments, and all kiln firing and use of machinery.
